You can bet your last dollar that THIS old lady learned her lesson regarding that!
I actually have another place that prefers cash, but I know her; she is an elderly Jamaican owner/occupant, and I wouldn't think of troubling her by paying in anything but cash or travelers checks. As a small (read small) business owner, I know the costs associated with the need/ability to accept credit cards; as well as the bottom line right out of my small operating expense budget. However, in my line, it is a necessary evil I just deal with. Not a month goes by I am not on the phone with "Merchant Services" questioning their logic in the various %'s and fees associated with every transaction I make. Every single card (points, travel awards, debit, gift card Visa) costs ME more, and considerably so, per purchase than any other standard Visa/MC with no "perks" associated with it.
