What strong well written articles !!!! As a " not local " living and working in Jamaica was socially hard . My kids were bullied for awhile UNTIL !!! I told my son to strike back . I told him as soon as someone touches you or trys to stop you " give him everything you got ". Don't worry about the teacher's or parent ( notice there is no "s" on that word ) I'll take care of that .I have a hard time thinking that violence is the solution to violence but some people only understand that. I personally rise very quickly when there is something that affects me . Guns , coke and too many children to support by women alone are hardships than can only be solved by " maning up ". I have said this before and I'll say it again ABSENTEEISM is their greatest economic down fall whether it is a no show reggae artist or a welder on a job ,motivation for success is not there. You can slice it or dice it there is just no excuse for it !!!!
we had been going to Grand Bahama Island, in the Bahamas for a few years in the 80's....slowly we watched the influence of our "rap that promotes killing cops and drugs" starting to take hold, the younger men especially....seems they weren't as nice when asking for a buck.......after a few years of buying and selling Coke we noticed more teenagers driving expensive cars...crime started going up and we then looked toward Jamaica..........as many tourist did. Sad to say, what is now going on there now, does remind us of GBI..... very sad..it seems like our lifestyle, influences in a way that leads some people down that road..... not sure if all of that makes sense ??? but going to both places for that long of time, we see the similarity I really hope I wrong
On an "up" note (if you can call it that) the cops finally found and killed the ring linger of the Alma gang yesterday. Those are the guys that have been holding the Spring Garden and Grange Hill area pretty much "hostage" for the last little while. Who knows what new shit will come up however....here's to a peaceful 2014.
OT - is it where he lives? Not so peaceful and safe for the last year or so I'm afraid...I have good friends who live on Canaan Mountain and I only will make day trips up to see them.
The problem with that area is all those damn cane fields - very desolate, great place for bad guys to hide and mostly a place where no one can hear you scream.
With this guy dead now hopefully the area will once again be "peaceful and safe".
Changing subject - since you and I appear to be the only ones "up" this morning - wanna go to Xtabi for eggs benedict?
