I really like Treasure Beach and have enjoyed by "vacation from my vacation" times there. I stayed at a place called Sunset Resort or some such thing right next door to Jakes - I couldn't quite figure out if that was the place you stayed too, the photo of the mural looked familiar.
When I was there 2 years ago I don't think I patronized any place that posted prices in USD...as I recall even Jack Sprats and Jakes had their prices posted in JMD, I know the hotel restaurant did. TB is definitely gaining more popularity with tourists but its still such a nice mellow place to go to avoid the throngs of tourists such as are in Negril. A good mix, the split stay...how was your time in Negril? "Once in a while you can get shown the light in the strangest of places if you look at it right..."

Rastagirl, Sunset Inn was just down the beach from where we were staying. It was used mainly as an ingress and egress point from the beach to the road above (shorter than walking the road to the same spot). We ate there one night and prices were reasonable with table cloths, cloth napkins, water glasses pretty upscale but reasonable.
Since you asked Negril was again very nice and I will do a specific posting for that when I catch the time. Beer is proof God wants us to be happy, Ben Franklin

Ohliz, yes we really hated to miss the day trip with Dennis. Every communication I have had when him via email has been nice. Even when we had to cancel he understood and said we did the right thing considering the conditions. He probably didn't want to get beat up by the waves either.
As you said something to look forward to next year. Everyone was excited about the whales when we came down to tell them they all came running up to see. Beer is proof God wants us to be happy, Ben Franklin

I forgot to mention a lady we met, Sharon Martini. We had some wonderful long and interesting conversations with her. Such a smart intelligent lady!
If you have time visit her page. http://sharonmartini.com/ She built the Mud Palace herself just like the huts they have in Africa. Beer is proof God wants us to be happy, Ben Franklin

Is she an owner of the guesthouse? Love the art gallery and cabaret, will look her up!

Me to . I saw that but didn't check it out but now I will next year .
Ohliz and OT, Sharon is not the owner of the guesthouse that is Iyara's. Sharon's mud palace is directly across the street from the guest house. She lives in a house right behind the mud palace. Really nice looking place/house and still a work in progress.

Good to know.
I'm beginning to plan a trip for next winter, TB will definitely be part of it, but I'll be moving around as usual I'm sure. |
