In NYS (just north of NYC) we pay on sale $6.99 per lb for 1 to 1-1/2 lb lobsters. Sale is usually because they are molted and full of water.

Our season is May and June in this part of Nova Scotia. The shells are bursting at the seams. No water just solid wonderful meat.We have the best season and the best lobster. They use to laugh when I said we need to define our lobster as different. Maine sell our lobster as Maine lobster..that's not fair to the customer or us as fishermen !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OT I was buying lobster last year from the wharf near my cottage in PEI for $5/lb canners, markets were $6/lb. We are heading over to open for the season this week. Will let you know what we pay. I am guessing its about the same as last year. That was not direct purchase from the fishermen. I believe they were selling to the broker for $4/lb
