I don't think this ban will have much affect on the children, who will then go home and inhale their parents 2nd hand smoke for years and years. I lived with 2 smokers for 23 years. The little bit of smoke I was around, outside of the home, I'm sure had little to do with the fact that I have chronic bronchitis and everytime a doctor listens to my lungs the ask "are you a smoker?"
This ban is for making money and appeasing tourists. Everything done in Negril is for the tourist - and screw the locals. Look at all the money spent on the stupid crossing lights and sidewalks at them. How many people have you ever seen using them. In all my trips up and down beach road, I saw one tourist use them. Really, did they think people would walk a few blocks out of their way up a hot dirty road to use a cross walk?
And while I'm ranting again. Who thought a cardboard cut out of a policeman holding a radar gun was a good idea. How much money was wasted on that? I've never seen a real policeman standing at the side of the road with a radar gun. They are usually hiding in the bush. I'm sure it took all of an hour for word to go through Negril about the fake cop. We all know how fast gossip travels in Negril - sometimes faster than the drivers.
