was going to post an article about this shooting, but the thing that struck me were the steps the armed guard (purportedly) took:
1) Shoot armed assailant
2) Remove assailant's weapon
3) Send to hospital
"... fired one shot hitting Mathieu in his chest.
Mathieu's weapon was then taken and he was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead. "
I've never shot a person (armed or otherwise) and I admit removing their weapon is probably safer (maybe they would "revive" and start shooting?), but it still struck me as an odd detail for the Gleaner to note.
