Case in point was the elections of 1989 where the PNP slogan was "my leader born here" (Michael Manley)
Edward Seaga was born outside of Jamaica but a Jamaican none the less. He had been Prime Minister for 9 years at the time.
The election didn't really turn on that but the fact that it was a slogan tells everything
It's not the skin color either. There are plenty white Jamaicans
Quien sabe?

I had to look up Xenophobic LOL!
In my opinion I think stating anything specific about another culture, race etc. is generalizing. I would even go so far as to say that must of culture can be made up of opinion of the person you are speaking with. Jamaicans from the 'country' as opposed to a tourist town like Negril or people from Kingston, who are less likely to deal with non-Jamaicans or tourists. Everyone will have their own opinion. I have overheard conversations in lane that go something like this:
yeah, that bwoy don't like white people.
whynot?
cause he got ripped off by one of the them...
wow, surprised cause white people have treated me better then Jamaicans
my point, it is all about opinion...
