Rastagirl, live like a pauper, bury like a king. The only thing I have seen more money spent on than funerals are ex-pats' mansions. From death to burial could be anywhere from 2-3 weeks. A part of the celebration relates to the fact it's the ONLY time some who have migrated return.
Back in my days, before funeral homes, someone would declare their loved ones dead, placed the body on a sheet of zinc ,and packed ice around them. I am not going to assume there were any misdiagnosis. Most people got buried in their yawd not the cemetery but that is changing for the new generation.
