I lost 50 pounds from Jan '09 to April '10 by moving more and eating less and better. It really is that simple...simple but not easy. I just made sure I ran or worked out or at least walked or biked every day, one day off a week allowed.
After a couple of months of that i looked at what i was eating and took most of the processed junk out, started eating better and smarter...never starving though. I've learned that severely restricting food intake only makes my body hold onto everything that goes in...so I settle for relatively slow weight loss, a pound or less a week.
It really doesn't work for me without exercise though, that seems to tell my body to burn fat and make muscle whereas just eating less does not.
I gained 10 pounds back from April '10 (when I was in Jamaica, in fact) and have stayed steady since then.
I still would like to lose about 30 more, though I try not to focus on the weight # as much as how I look and feel.
Nowadays I run 3x a week and as it's winter, can't bike on the other days. I do still watch what i eat but I thought it owuld be a good idea for my body to settle in at this weight for awhile before trying to make it drop again.
