Since we are on the topic of tipping, I will add an aspect of it that really gets me going. I too consider myself a generous tipper especially when in Jamaica, since I know that many service employees there make very little money. What really bothers me is when I offer a nice tip and then have someone look at me dissatisfied. I had this happen to me on our last trip to Jamaica and was infuriated with this guy who had actually done very little in the way of service for us compared to others at a small AI. He actually walked past me a few minutes later and hissed his teeth at me.
Oh man, I was ticked and considered turning him into management, but didn't. I read recently in another forum that he was let go. Now, I don't have to feel bad about causing someone to lose their job. It seems that many people really liked him. I'm sure he was having a bad day.
I know everyone has a bad day and perhaps I was the one he decided to take it out on, but seriously? Someone is handing you money they are not obligated to give to you due to being at an AI resort and you hiss your teeth at them?
