Hey I agree with yall, no one wants to see/hear about these crimes. Flinstone, yes, I get what you are saying... and I'm sure when someone tells you 'what did you expect? you live in the northend!' it riles your cookies nah tru?
It's a defense mechanism to say 'it happens everywhere' as a general statement because, the truth hurts people who live/love the Westend real real bad. The fear rises up and there is nothing we can do about it. People who just continue to diss the Westend because there are badmen there... well there ARE badmen everywhere. It is not the Westends fault. To gwan saying that's where the crackheads are etc.. is not easy to take cause there ARE crackheads everywhere in Jamaica... Going on about all the violence and whatnot surrounding the Westend is just pouring salt on the wound and it bring out the defense mechanism.
Robberies happen on the beach probably more often than not, but it doesnt hit the papers and noone really knows about it until someone knows someone. Most tourists on the beach, hear nothing about this stuff, cause let's face it they are tourists in the true way, and don't know anybody well, if at all.
This particular incident is so wrong on so many levels and no one is disputing that and noone worries more about it then the residents and people who have invested either dollars or their hearts in Negril in general, nevermind the Westend.
