I twice got into a physical altercation with a groper. Once when I was selling insurance on the lower east side, he groped me and I pushed him into the gutter (he was drunk, it wasn't too hard). The next time was late at night on the upper west side and *I* was at least tipsy...but I was so angry the guy grabbed my butt that I didn't care, I pushed/threw him back into a store metal gate. Twice, because he came after me again. Both times I was on pure fury and adrenalin. But I didn't take it those times like I did when I was younger.
I can think of at least two times I wish I'd been mature enough, brave enough - hell OLD enough to respond. I still feel shitty thinking about those today.
I have not experienced any harassment or groping in the small town in which I currently live, but in large cities I think most women and girls do.
Definitely not a Jamaican-only thing, there are letters and blog posts on the site I linked above that could be word for word what the original post says.
