No worries. But no, not Rasta John. The account should be all set now, I think. But thanks for following up.

The latest, 10/9 (or 9/10/21 in Jamaican expression) is to Kylake and Double Trouble:
While I continue to enter this site with the plain HTTP because that's what so engrained in my history folder (?) of Firefox, and usually has no problems, today is another day of hitting that "no reply stone wall" archive screen when I click the reply button. URL below: http://jamericans.net/yellowboard/#200,195 To remendy this, I click the 'back page' icon of my browser, wait a few seconds as I notice several URL's flash by on the lower left corner of my screen and then I click on the "stop" or "x" or could push escape. Not only am I inside the reply routine where I wanted to be, and previously was for a few seconds, I can then enter any reply text. It works for me.

If using Firefox and if this site is a saved/pinned option on your Firefox homepage you can click on the dots I have circled in the picture attached and then edit and save the edit all you have to do is add the s after http
https://jamericans.net/yellowboard/forumdisplay.php?fid=3 That will be a more permanent resolve if you always enter using that saved/pinned link Beer is proof God wants us to be happy, Ben Franklin

It doesn't need to be that complicated, really. Just change the address in the address bar at the top, google/firefox, doesn't matter. Make sure you enter "https://www.jamericans.net/yellowboard", and you'll be in secure browser window, and able to reply. It works 100% of the time. What you're describing, CBB, will just confuse people, and is unnecessary. I periodically check and make sure I still have the "lock" icon on my address bar. The only times I get issues posting/replying, is when it goes back to http protocol.
Do that, and everyone can post. I do wish we could get this bug fixed, as it's probably keeping a few more folks from participating.

Kylake, pinning on Windows 7 doesn't function for me as you suggest it should, and I can not edit it either. I won't go into details.
This paragraph is unique to my machine and has never been mentioned and does not/may not have a bearing on anything: If the url has the www. in front, it says I am not logged on. Probably cookie related as I've never logged in under http://www.jamaicans.net, only jamaicans.net. If I use the exact URL TAH suggested, I get two choices: forum or archives and have to pick one from the screen: https://jamericans.net/yellowboard/ IF I use the longer URL (with or without the S), I end up where I expect: https://jamericans.net/yellowboard/forumdisplay.php?fid=3 The archives option is the one line: Archives 3,959 16,653 KFC in Jamaica .... I have been calling the screen with that line the 'archieves page.' People might be having problems posting anything. DT's original snag was when he clicked on: reply. He, and me sometimes, sees that 'archives ....' line. One has to assume he is logged on since reply-button won't show up otherwise. Nothing will get fixed until we isolate the problem more. I agree that my steps might confuse people. However, to initially get onto the board, I click on my blank address bar and the 10 most popular url's show up. In my case, http://jamaicans.net/.... is the only history item, but yea, I can add the full prefix "https colon slash slash" after the menu has appeared. To bring up an old, odd fluke, when I enter URL's into the post, different things happen if I'm here via HTTP and HTTPS. I consider this bug/fluke "a feature." I have edited this post so many times. The 6 guests here now are probably confused. Why don't they register, and post something?

All you have to do is replace "http" with "https".

Quote:TAH wrote: All you have to do is replace "http" with "https".That is what my last suggestion does but by doing it on the saved/pinned link in Firefox it is a "once and done" and you don't have to repeat the step of changing http to https since it is saved as https on the pinned link. Each time you launch using the pinned link it launches as https. Beer is proof God wants us to be happy, Ben Franklin

Ah good tip, I missed that bit.
My previous comment was directed at CBB...

Kylake; I got the tab pin to work, but it required the www. prefix.
What's left to do is log on. I never log off, but jamaicans.net # http://www.jamericans.net. (# = not-equals) so I haven't tested the whole package. BUT how do I close down the tab? I don't want this message board running all the time as an open tab, with isn't a normal tab, nor have to repin the tab after starting all over again every time? This sentence is added via "edit": What's weird is the above paragraph shows me the http :// prefix at the front of the www dot jamaicans.net string, but the text entered (which I also see in front of me) does NOT have the http, colon, slashslash. I know I restarted the board with the https, but without the 3 w's. So unexplained events can be bugs, or features, but usually a debugging nightmare. |
