Of all the places I have traveled this oddity only seems to occur with Jamaica, and Negril especially. When I refer to the "real Jamaica" I simply mean from a tourist prospective. There is a big diff in being walled in on an A/I and staying at Travelers or Treehouse. I am only interested in the Jamaican tourist experience, otherwise it would not be a vacation. I don't need or feel the urge to lose my "tourist status", that is what I am.
I read a review a guy wrote about COUPLES SWEPT AWAY and he commented that a lot of other guests kinda were dismissive of him when he said he was a "first timer" and not a "repeater". I thought this was weird, but after several trips I understand what he meant. Negril somehow grabs at people and makes them want to claim her rather than simply visit her. Kind of like an intoxicating female that you want to marry on the first date!
