I fucking loathe drama and remove all of it from my life, even if you are family. Everybody has their own problems and does not want to hear about yours.
I myself want to protect Negril and it's interest as I have friends who make a good chunk of their dime off of tourist. When they start screaming that shit is out of hand is when my ears perk up. The last week has been relatively quiet and my hope is that this continues, not only for my piece of mind but for that of other tourist and local folks alike.
I agree with all of that 100%. I try to be a drama free person in general, and have cut off about half of my family for that reason. Don't need it in my life. We're leaving in three weeks, and are staying very close to where this latest incident occurred. I don't want to have to be on edge while walking around, and we're not the type to sit at the hotel doing nothing.
I'm very familiar with Negril, and have always gone exploring as that's what we enjoy doing. I like just stopping and having random conversations with people from another culture, and I hate feeling like we have to curtail that to some degree. Over the past several years we've noticed a definite change in the "vibe" around Negril, and have had a couple of unpleasant exchanges the past two trips. Both of them with people from the area around Lime Tree. It's not a good thing for anyone involved, us or them.
Rastagirl keeps minimizing it, which I understand to an extent, but the facts of the matter are pretty hard to refute. I'm still trying to decide whether to cancel the Negril portion of this trip, and it's pretty sad that I have to do that.
