I recall hearing a year or so ago a radio program on the US-based ultra-conservative religious group that was visiting Uganda and encouraging this type of law (also politically connected in the US).
But in JA, perhaps it would be better if the media didn't so frequently and strongly implicitly and explicitly endorse homophobic attitudes/actions.
As in this article, ostensibly about the "Dream Weekend 2014", they just had to throw this into the article:
"A few males, apparently foreigners, exchanged warm embraces as they got caught up in the moment. They quickly discontinued their innocent bursts of exuberance when they noticed the displeased expressions of some Jamaican men nearby."
