Great advice Goldilocks!
Congratulations on your swimming Barbara!
If you enjoy the water and you ever have a chance you should try swim aerobics. I take a swim aerobics class where we wear flotation belts and do our thing in the deep end. Some people stay in the shallow but it is a deep water class. They also do shallow water but I like how wearing a belt and being the weightless in the water aligns the spine. There are a lot of seniors - some in their upper eighties and and they are so impressive with what they can do. They get so limber from working out in the pool that they can go home and do gardening without aches and pains.
It is the most enjoyable form of exercise I have ever done.
I know a couple of older woman who don't know how to swim and they are in the deep end working away. They impress me so much.
Ill get off my pedestal - i just love it so much I want everyone to try it.
Raine - I am so sorry to hear that. I lost my father when I was young and it was very hard. It is also an extremely difficult and senseless way to loose someone.
When I was 22 (the year after losing my Dad) the crew I worked with in a restaurant, were in a fatal car accident. I was madly in love with Normand - who was killed on impact. The two guys in the back had serious injuries, but they pulled through. The driver walked away having killed his best friend. He was charged with vehicular manslaughter.
He did not test positive for drunk driving but like everyone in the car, he had been drinking a bit. Earlier in the night I was on my way to hang out with them and for some reason drove home.
I am still in contact with the driver but his life was never the same. He has a good enough life - I guess - but has never married, never had kids and has lived a pretty secluded existence.
The family blamed him and they had been like a second family to him.
I understand the family but I know the driver has never fully recovered from that split second when he made the wrong decision and took his best friend's life.
I dont know why I felt the need to tell you this story - I guess i just want to extend my sympathy and tell you that I bet the person who killed your father is living in their own inner hell.
