Fair enough because doing this would drive my husband nuts. I have a degree in Finance and I used to be a banker, so this is second nature. I am either going to do this and enjoy a life of travel now, or wait and hope to have the means and health to do it later. With 2 kids, spending $1K per month is quite easy. Once you get it you realize, I am spending the cash anyways, why not earn the massive points. There are tons of blogs but it takes a certain mindset to and time to go through them.
Goal - Free Flight
Requirement - $1K per month (gas, groceries, phone, internet, TV, car insurance)
Plan - After Venture Capital go for Citi Premier. You will get 50K after spending $3K. Now take those points and sell them to rewards2cash for about $625 ca$h. Basically with only two cards you have your almost $1,200.00 . If your spouse did the same, that's $2,400. Whenever you have mandatory expenditures you have FREE travel opportunities.
I also use discounted gift cards saving me from 2 to 20 percent at my favorite stores. I recently bought Home Depot discounted gift card at 7% off but used my Venture card to pay for it, earning another 2 percent.
