The deceased has been identified as Kevin Bird, 37, of Good Hope, Negril.
Reports are that about 4:30 p.m., Bird was among a group of men playing a table game outside a supermarket in the town centre of Negril, when a motorcycle was ridden up with two men on board the unit.
One of the men alighted from the motorcycle and opened fire, hitting Bird multiple times.
The businessman was taken to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
No motive has so far been established for the killing.
Bird's murder comes on the heels of the New Year's Day killing of 48-year-old hardware supervisor, Anthony Meyler, of Rocky Hill, Sheffield, Westmoreland, and the shooting and injuring of a 33-year-old labourer of Fairmount, Sheffield in Westmoreland.
Meyer's licensed 9mm Heckler and Koch pistol was stolen during the attack on him.
Last year 142 murders were recorded in Westmoreland, six shy of the 148 that were recorded there in 2017.
Westmoreland led among the parishes nationally in terms of its murder tally last year.http://www.loopjamaica.com/content/daylight-murder-businessman-negril-square
