Edit Reason: special->important change
)
I've told this story before, of hearing "White guy, white guy" being barked (said) by a taxi loader.
It made me feel important for a few moments, ala "here's a special person" but it was just a label for "possible charter for taxi to the airport", which would naturally be many times more expensive than just a passenger in a route cab to Lucy.
I am under the impression that tourists (local word is "foreign") rarely go to the bus park by the Police station or the equiviant in Lucy or Sav. The more paying customers the better for the driver, and the bus or taxi leaves sooner too. And I suspect the (how can I describe the person huseling people into taxis?) might be "touched" by the driver, or he is working for the driver to get the vechicle filled. It's a scene to be experienced.
So, I wasn't special after all. It was potentially descriptive.
I think being politically correct has been overdone. There's nothing wrong saying Merry Christmas or God Bless You. (that one is when you sneeze and your heart has resumed beating.)
What I hate is being called Cheap Charlie or "CIA" because of my short haircut and just hanging around idle.
Going full circle, maybe I didn't hear "white guy" but a false "Rich guy, rich guy." LOL
Shipmaster is a 'White Jamaican boy" ; I liked that.
