Old time Jamaica is something of the past. Weed was actually discreet, boys did not approach GROWN women holding their crotch, men had game but boundaries, and people did not get blamed for being a victim of crime and disrespect. Reggae was not that popular but neither was dancehall poster with ladies veejay showing. Someone always offer you something extra along with laughter. Aside from crime, I don't feel comfortable being in Jamaica with my husband. The last trip I dealt with the derogatory comments and now I read some (not all) guys think you are a whore because of you you marry. Just got nailed on that marriage thing (no pun intended) but I have not experienced this. They think my hubby name is "john" but that a different story. I know it could be the type (dross, love this word)) that I attract for that blessed 2-3 weeks at a time that I am there, so I go solo.
Jamaica is beautiful but like a woman who can't cook or do the deed, have you looking elsewhere (in theory because I am female) . We will try Costa Rica next but will know there will be a moment that I wish I was in Jamaica. In Hawaii it was scent of weed, Reggae and lushness of Kauai. In Florida it was the humidity. In St Thomas it was the hills overlooking the water and St Marteen the sound of a dialect. Outside Barcelona the clothes on the line and open air market. In Vienna and places in Denmark, the thick woods/bush. Dem got bush as in bakka bush :-). My daughter said of places in Mexico (Tulum) , it's like Jamaica with better roads.
What was the question again:-). What I love about Jamaica - she lends her beauty and self to so many places.
