not to be an alarmist...but yeah they're motive was money, it involved a local business man, whats to think its not going to happen to an ex=pat /foreigner in the west end??? i guess you all have your high fences and security in place...but like we all know " eyes, ears everywhere...." they know that if they acted on a foreigner and the police were called that the police may come sooner...but they also know they have enough time to get away ...esp on the west end..so whats going to happen out there...business as usual ?( as Rastagirl implements) more security for your yard compounds?take another Xanax and a red stripe and act like it will never happen to you...?? or to live in a constant state of underlying anxiety..more so than you usually do ...the constant flight or fight trigger??? or do you just become de-sensitized to it all as locals do to cope with it.. Is it worth it???..hmm.... i know i get sick of being on a my a game when i should be relaxing... im from LA -I grew up next to the barrio..i know all this shit..at least LA style,... why the hell would i want to go to place where i got to wear that armor again? Talk all the shit you want to about mexico, but i saw all the federales around tulum..checking every vehicle coming and going..felt hell of lot safer there than i ever have in jam..shit could happen there..in that little town of a lot less than negril..but theres still a little well stocked and appointed medical emergency clinic in town with a functioning and properly supplied ambulance...and tulum only recently became a tourist town like negril has been for a few decades but Tulum still managed to get there act together in regards to tourists basic needs, and the fact that they bring in revnue.. bottom line: Jam is a dysfunctional country and with current govt will stay that way...until new govt and new ATTITUDE take ahold of its PEOPLE and its people act on it...it will slowly continue to spiral down....Where the warning from our own govt wont be because of the drought conditions in Jam etc, but about the unsafe conditions to your life and your loved ones...
I love Jam ..so much natural beauty ..a unique culture...but when its own people (not everyone but many) seem to have an attitude towards crime (in anyway) as another day occurrence...business as usual.no big deal maybe for a day or week but quickly forgotten about the next)..how can its country ever change course???
