There are times I can't even read the OTGN reports because it make me so angry and so sad. I don't know if it's an upward trending thing or if I'm just noticing it more and more now- but the lack of respect for life in any kind- ESPECIALLY HUMAN life I've seen in Jamaica lately is very concerning and disheartening. Whether it's someone actually committing the crime OR the attitude that follows a death. A couple years ago my husband and I were coming back from Kingston late at night, it must have been 1am or so. Just outside of Santa Cruz we watched a horrific accident where we wintessed someone actually thrown from the car and smashed headfirst on to the pavement, we were literally a second from being involved in that accident. Not only did witnessing that haunt me for a LONG time but the things that were said, the attitudes of those who witnessed it haunted me even more because I couldn't believe that people were thinking and saying the horribly grotesque and disrespectful things they were. It took us 6 hours to get home from Santa Cruz that night because neither of use could drive- a leaf blew on the side of the road and we were both having a heart attack.
