Now at my home we are watching Netflix Grey's Anatomy -- we never watched it while it was on TV, I think we are now into the 5th season -- we usually watch 2 episodes per night. We bought all Soprano's DVD's & re-watch when we don't have anything else. "The Wire" -- if any of you haven't gotten into this series, I highly recommend it. We also watched some pretty weird prison episodes, I can't remember the name of it, I think it was an HBO series though.
Today is my birthday -- not my usual birthday where I float around in my swimming pool on my float -- my (RN daughter) has now thankfully switched to working weekends and guess who is the babysitter, ME. The 9 year old twins go with their Dad & I have 3 year old Emmie. She is a bossy little girl, the highlight of the day was going to the grocery store. At 8 p.m. I was quite delighted when my daughter picked her up, it is rather exceptionally exhausting watching a three year old from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
My vacation begins tomorrow, my very first A/I ever. This will be kind of strange, destination "hiking vacation" -- so last week I figured that I should start walking around a lot during my working hours -- like ten minutes ten times per day. Then my knee started to KILL me. I think it was something like three years ago when I was going up to the Adirondack Mountains for an early morning fishing expedition... And I was putting up a wood barrier so my dog Roamie couldn't get into the living room, and then I tripped over it onto my Italian tile floor in my kitchen (HARD) like falling onto concrete & my knee has never been the same.
My youngest daughter is the person coming with my on this vacation, her vacation ideas are really so totally different from mine. She wants to go to Iceland, I want to go to the Galapalago Islands. She wants to go the Ireland, I want to go to Equador. She has been going to JA since she was six months old so it's the absolutely LAST place on earth she wants to go to.
My last (summer) trip to JA was really awful, just so hot and humid, from the time I got off the plane I just kept thinking that I was completely nuts to spend money on a destination so humid that I couldn't stand it.
The place I am going to is a castle in the middle of the Shawagunk Mountains. There is a pristine glacier lake there -- cliffs, miles of trails, ha ha I will probably collapse, their easiest trail is listed as four miles round trip. I used to be in great shape, I could swim from Sea Grape to Yahct Club and walk from Light House to Wharf Club on a daily basis. Now I think that walking two R/T miles will be hard for me. I have a hard time swimming from "Jack's Castle" to Samsara.
So anyways, this place I am going to has SUPER food, in upstate NY there is this great college for chefs & most of them work at this place & all food is included in your price. I definitely would have being some place else more exotic, but this place is close to my home, a place I have ALWAYS wanted to visit. I think I was 19 years old or something & went on a camping trip in the Shawagunks and, when hiking, & saw the top of the castle from the trail, it was like "WOW".. so I'm glad that so many years later I will get to experience it!
