For anyone wanting to bring hummingbirds into their personal yard in the US or Canada, I suggest planting this plant: bee balm plant -- the hummingbirds love them & the bee balm plant spreads really prolifically. I have quite a bit of deer who are constantly in my yard & they don't eat these plants at all. I do enjoy sitting out in my yard during the summer & watching the hummingbird's coming around. They do get into some flying /squawking fights over my area of flowers! Sometimes when I am sitting outside I think a squarm of bees are descending on me and then realize it is the hummingbirds trying to claim their territory. For anyone who puts out the sugar formula, please be REALLY careful to change it regularly because if you don't and it turns bad, it can kill these beautiful little birds. They absolutely LOVE the bee balm plants, I think these plants grow like mint (kind of invasive) with their rooting system, but hummingbirds LOVE them! And they are a really really pretty flower. So everyone that loves to see hummingbirds in their yard please do a google search on bee balm plants. Just be aware that they do spread pretty prolifically just like the mint plant.
