Gates are used widely for home security, I didn't associate anyone with gated homes as living in seclusion or not participating in Jamaican community life or enjoying ja as a tourist, or seeing themselves as better than anyone..
If I lived in JA I would want fence and gates around my home as I do in the uk, where I have an eight foot fence around my home.
To keep the undesirables out, not me in.
Gates ?...we don't need no stinkin' gates.
From the turn off on the main road it's 1/2 kilometer to the base of Zion Hill. I can see a car turning in down there from the house. And the dogs let us know as soon as someone turns in down there. It's the only way in.
I got fences to keep the goats out of the cultivation but no gate
