times are changing, there is a lot more ppl seeking and getting education in jamaica. that is a good thing. education is the key.
on the other hand, the economy drives ignorance in ppl and no growth . . . and promotes all that we talked about here . . . the famous jamaican saying "a so we do it" stays with these ppl and their communities. . . . it's on the rise . . . just listen to the music . . .
at home, i work with sexually exploited kids and is an interest to me. . . when i go on holiday, i see and hear heartbreaking stories from children about the sexual abuse that is done to them . . . nothing i can do about that but listen and offer words of encouragement with caution . . . bushes have eyes and ears and at the end of the day, i want to go home in one piece. . . . i left portland feeling very unsafe and have not been back in 3 years now. not safe.
and, i witnessed while sitting at the bar b barn bar, a father bringing his 11 year old beautiful young girl for a old white man who was a guest. heartbreaking. i was frightened of that man, never mind that 11 yr. old girl.
i don't believe for a minute that things in jamaica will change.
some tourists just have their blinders on and nothing will change for them. they only see what they want to see. . . .
jamaicans have to rise and do the changing. not foreigners.
i agree with susan and macy, they know what they are talking about.
