Check out this link on OGNR..... http://www.facebook.com/onthegroundnews#!/notes/on-the-ground-news-reports/confirmed-jdf-on-standby-as-fire-fighters-remain-off-the-job-to-protest-non-paym/173463249363571

Sooner or later this govt. here must have a real "shakedown" & expose of where all the money is REALLY going! This is SHAMEFUL & DANGEROUS!!

That is simply outrageous....there are some people that should flat out be paid NO MATTER WHAT and firefighters and emt's are among that group!

I still remember when I was coming back to Negril from a tour and passing a house on fire..and the neighbors were busy getting their posessions out of their houses because the fire was starting to spread..and the fire truck was there..but from what we were told..they had forgotten something and had to go back..so they put the sirens back on and wailed back to the fire stations..while the cops kept directing traffic..the fire was so close there was a little concern about it peeling the paint on the car and not wanting to get the gas tank to hot..hurried on out of there..but I have never been able to forget that fire..and hated feeling that helpless..

I still wish there was something I could do to help the situation...every community deserves an active fire department, and one that is properly paid and equipped..
