Evidently it started in the parking lot behind Burger King and Digicel and moved out to the dock area on the corner to west end. The Tiki boat was docked there to take on supplies and fortunately the guys that run that business were not harmed but their boat was shot up including the motor. I don't have any local reports from anyone other than the bad guys being shot or killed. RE: trouble in paradise - Negril75 - 07-31-2024 For those of you who have been following the happenings in Jamaica, I hope that you like me hate to see the current state Jamaica is in specifically in this instance Negril. To see such a lovely island of paradise fall prey to what's happening in the rest of the world saddens me. The apologists who like to defend the violence point out that it happens in Chicago, or Boston or you name it on a daily basis. While that is true it doesn't change the fact that I would find it very difficult to travel to Negril currently with any semblance of relaxation and calmness knowing that the possibility of being in the wrong place at the wrong time is in fact a possibility. What strikes me the most is how much different the climate is in Treasure Beach. That is not to say that there isn't crime there too but I have found over the past 10 or 15 years such a shift in where I enjoy going in Jamaica. Is it the local government there or the locals who understand that by "Killing The Golden Goose" of their tourism hurts everyone. Unfortunately TB was hit hard by the recent hurricane and hopefully they can get their power back (If they haven't already) and be back up and running. In closing I must say that I will always cherish the many great times that I have experienced in Jamaica but at this point it doesn't look like I will be returning anytime soon. Sorry to say!!
