Thanks Tammy. Its definately a place to relax, explore, or fish for the Lakers and Pike that pack the lake.
Seriously though, a week before Thanksgiving I received a phone call from the people that have a small store and gas station where we park my truck for the boat ride to the cabin. There was a forest fire burning very near the cabin (300 yds away) and there was a real threat of it burning. Forest fires are pretty unheard of this late in the fall but it has been really dry and I guess some canoeists had started a campfire but never ensured it was out. After a few tense days I found out it never burned, although to this day the fire isn't completely out.

They just did that here in two local school districts.

I'm blessed to live in a garden spot - so beautiful here, so beautiful there. I don't really have much of a winter to run away from so what pulls me to Jamaica each year for the months that I'm there are my friends and community and - I call it moving from one soft spot to another....

With the downturn of the economy in 2008 things are tougher, not easier as the hub and I "age". Combine that with climbing cost of living everywhere...well, that retirement dream has definitely been modified and put off. I can't count on retiring as soon as I would have thought and with time comes wisdom and reality.
