About 4 years ago a friend gave us this ugly plant. We were visiting and commented on it's uniqueness."Take some home" as he cut off about a 2 foot top. "just put in in a pot of dirt",so we did
He called it a pencil tree. A couple years ago I saw a thread on negril.com about this plant.reffered to as pencil cactus, with pictures of hedgerows of it,growing in Jamaica.Talked about its milky sap,and how its used ,because the sap makes you itchy.
Last winter I saw this neat tree at Mayfeild Falls called milk tree.It was about 8 inches at the trunk. All the bark was brown, only the smallest branches were green and it was full and symetrical.Thrilled to know this grows in Jamaica, and likes its home in Maine. So does its brother yukka, two years ago 3 feet now almost 6

Cool plant. Grew pretty fast.

What an interesting looking tree!

not sure what I'm gonna do next year!
