This is the best single recording of the song I found. It has an Irish twang you may or may not like but I am sure most would remember Mark Knopfler from the group Dire Straits

First video is fine (new to me); 2nd one displays "not available - copywrite" type message.
For the lyrics of Sultan, they are here: http://www.lyricsfreak.com/d/dire+straits/sultans+of+swing_20040787.html Great guitar. As for the memory that song stirs; Mid travels on my Harley and found a hotel in in the middle of Hollywood for $35 a week (Cine Lodge, aka Howards Weekly), working freelance at a head shop supply company, and nightly would test the products. With a leather jacket, denim outoff over, long hair and beard, I was one of those you might expect to find in Hollywood in that era.
CBB, the second one was the whole album and I guess it was caught and then taken down. I listened to the whole album the night before posting so I guess I got lucky. I will see if I can find another copy and if so edit the second one.
**Found another copy but not sure how long it will last but the full album is back up after an edit. Beer is proof God wants us to be happy, Ben Franklin

Thanks for editing the post and modding the URL for the album. I was highly disappointed and ceased after one hour of enduring pain.
It was playing while I read two stories in a different window/tab. One was on floating shipping containers, http://www.oceannavigator.com/March-April-2013/A-legendary-offshore-danger and the other was http://www.nytimes.com/2015/07/19/world/stowaway-crime-scofflaw-ship.html about ships poluting the oceans, evading taxes/debts, etc. But you have to read the comments to find things like: The US is the main hold out to some 37 international treaties. and: The U.N. is only as powerful as its members allow it to be & those with veto have the ability to sink or delay things they don't deem an absolute positive for their own agenda or they can just refuse outright to be party to it. e.g. Law of the Sea Treaty 1982 has yet to be voted on by the US Senate! The more one reads, the stronger the feeling the world is going to pot. Oh the delight of some to not be concerned with anything beyond their own sight or wallet. |
