I did report a crime (guy hopped in our car to give directions, not what we wanted but car doors were unlocked, and grabbed a backpack from the seat and ran with it when we arrived at our villa) to the police once, because the owner of the villa where I was staying asked me to.
The police kept wanting me to say the guy was a rasta with dreads when he was not. The cop asked me that like 4 times, every time I was like "No, he had short hair".
However, I learned a day or two later that the community caught the guy, not the police.
Anyway, no repercussions to us about it. We even got the backpack contents back (he dropped it as he ran, stuff was falling out - what we didn't gather ourselves neighbors did gather and returned to us). It was all shampoo and stuff like that, no biggie.
I can't tell how to start a new thread.... first I will reply to this thread... NO WAY... too scared you can get killed.. seriously... I'm really totatally west end & it can be scary out there when your face is known. Long time west end residents tell me not to go past the Lighthouse area. So where I want to stay is at Tingalaya, I really can't stand staying in town, sometimes Christmas time I do stay right at the beach, Goldtentimes place.

LOL, not exactly but I will PM Suzengrace to see if she knows. My friend is trying to find a link dealing with this issue. I am using links to show other sources when possible.

On my last trip I wanted to visit my father's , who was a cop, home town and was told repeatedly not to because someone might try to poison me. He died 23 years ago and I haven't lived in Jamaica for over 35 years, yet the threat remains. Another expression, if you can't get Harry you get his shirt (kid).
Sorry for the babble but the dysfunction has no end, when there are expressions ingrained in a "Christian" culture to hurt an innocent child. It has been said 'kill da seed' is what make Jamaican gangs most feared.
