Caves are fascinating to me-and there's such a multitude of them on the island.. Please check out the website http://www.jamaicancaves.org an excellent volunteer group with tons of caving info-also offer up tours I believe..Lots of cool info on their site.. Thanks Daniel for sharing-next time I want to see a video with You in the cave(LOL)

There are a lot of caves where I grew up (and still live).. we used to go to this place Thatcher Park in what we call "the hilltowns" during the summer. My friend and I would follow her older brother and her friends into one of the bigger caves.. To get in, in parts, you would have to crawl on your hands and knees in about four inches of water, then further back, the cave was HUGE (still wet floor though). There were thousands and thousands of bats in there! You finally reached a huge cavern with stallatites. I have always declined (in Jamaica) going into a cave or cavern, just because I'm kind of "all caved out". We also have a REALLY huge cave/cavern called Howes Cavern here. There are actually small rivers down there, this is not a crawl in cave, you take an elevator down there and ride in boats throughout the place.

I'm a speelunker too, Daniel. Where I live in Northwest Arkansas, we have many caves & caverns. Here is a youtube video of a cave that I once went 4 hours of hard crawling, walking & dropping (via ropes) back into. Of course it's hard to say exactly how many miles you went, you know!

I have fond, fond memories of our cave rave days in Little Bay..."blaze it up!" Caves are becoming a "constant" in my Jamaica experience. In Negril, I live above one...actually our yard sits on a series of sea caves and blow holes. This is my favorite one - Hub and his friend are still trying to find that cave on our friend's property...no luck yet but makes for great hikes in the bush "Once in a while you can get shown the light in the strangest of places if you look at it right..."
