Remember those hard core fishermen i was telling you about last month.
They are at it again.
Last trip, i paid them a visit.
It's the spot, on the beach, at the very end next to the river.
There you will find the Mountain Man, a/k/a Ringo and his shop.
He has a prime spot right on the beach. A bunch of others guys have little houses here and there spread out next to and behind the Craft Market.
The river some times dishes out dirty water, so no swimming that trip.
He has a fire going 24/7. So he says.
Just 4-5 logs in a pin wheel shape.
He does not use a grill, just pots and pans that he situates on the logs that meet in the center.
As the wood burns, he must reposition and shift the logs closer to the middle.
Last reach, I was hanging with him and the other gents.
Nothing was cooking, no pots on the fire.
The usual "times are slow" was was the reason.
He is the guy that had a deep freezer and one time he opened it and I saw the tails of 7-8 Bonita fish sticking up.
That is a great fish Bonita, big and meaty steaks is how you chop it up.
Once it is prepared and cooked, you can bite into it like a beef steak and there are no bones to worry about.
This past trip, no freezer, no electricity.
He was down on his luck as they say.
Here Ringo, I will be back tomorrow, buy the fish and other stuff and we will eat like kings!
Yeah mon. (he had a sad look in his eyes, he wished it was today).
The fire is for everybody, all the folks around here can use it.
I have the pots and fire, so folks go buy the fish and clean them.
We share.
So, I hung out for about 2 hours and then bid my farewells.
I left him money and said I'll see you tomorrow.
Next day, I show up at about noon, and he was in the back cleaning off the scales and would soon be ready to start cooking.
This man does so much with so little.
I have been hanging out with him and the boys for years and years.
He sliced and diced, and had the fish ready.
A little seasoning with scallions and peppers and what have you.
He threw in some oil and those babies started to fry.
He moves the pots and pans around and adjust the wood tree trunks to have the pot sit just right while cooking.
As usual it turned out fantastic.
Man, If I had just a steel grill with 4 legs, I cold slide it over the fire and throw a few lobsters on it.
I may look into that next trip.
So, stop by, say hi, they are very friendly guys down that way.
Tell em Marko sent ya.
