Don't really know enough about him to give an opinion....just hope his deeds are transparent and Jamaica benefits from his being in office....only time will tell...
JaJewel, I for one would like more of your input. I dont know much about the Manley years and would like to learn more.
I am definately NOT the one to ask about history of politrixters a Yaad....I was only refering to comments made to me years ago by a friend who was a humble, struggling Rastaman......as I said, everyone sees things through their own eyes, depending on their own situation.
I am definately not well versed enough to have an intelligent convo. All I know is that when Seaga & Manley were up against each other is when the guns started coming into Jamaica & it was a "political" ting!
Having spent may years in the Spanish Caribbean and central America I can tell you that the descendants of the British colonies and the Spanish colonies are two entirely different cultures.
The rebellious slave mentality of Jamaica would never bow to a strong ruler as was the case in Cuba and much of Latin America. Dr. Castro brought discipline to Cuba by either imprisoning or killing off all decent. Can you imagine Jamaicans letting that happen? The spirit of our national hero Nanny would be resurrected instantly.
I believe a lot of Jamaica's problems can be traced to the indiscipline that keeps Jamaicans enamored with the dance hall artist (who might also be a criminal) rather than the scientist or doctor.
