Great vid - I know Andy and Jonathon. These guys "picked up" the Jamaica Fat Tyre Festival started in Negril in 1998. I'm close friends with the "originals" who carved and rode trails all over Negril, New Hope and Little Bay. My husband became an avid mountain biker after hooking up with these madmen! Its his favorite mode of transportation when we are there.
Andy and Jonathon, as stated on their website, have been doing their own version of the Fat Tyre Festival in Robins Bay for several years. Its a spendy proposition but attracts amateurs and professionals from all over the world, just like the Negril festival did.
Now, the Negril festival was a week long party combined with some heavy cross country and downhill competition. There's no competition element in the one they do up north.
I loved those years and that week in February that started with the Donkey Races in Little Bay and ended with PeeWees birthday party, with when possible, a full blown full moon ride and celebration in Little Bay at Uncle Sams and the cave there.
