I had visions of hiking about, and swimming in mountain streams, before getting here. did not happen. I started up the ridge behind the house the first morning, only to quit 3/4s of the way up. It was nice , but it got hot,I got winded, and couldn't really see the point. The view really wasn't gonna get better. I asked one of the guys working around the property,Kevin, about a local swimming hole He spoke of one, but later,Pat, discouraged me from going, saying it wasn't that nice, water not all that clean. David and Pat have wonderful personalities ,and of course knowledge about the property and area. Next time, a hired driver(David will do this) to take a ride to Cinchona. Our rental Yaris went great everywhere I tried to take it, but a 4 wheel drive is must to really get around here. So I actually sat down and did a little reading. Great old Library in the house . Silver Hill gets its water from the springs at Catherine Peak.Free. So water was, freely running. there were hoses, and pipes way up the hillside.Pat ,is a good cook. She seemed glad to work for us.(I'm sure it was as much about, stranger in my kitchen, as the money). She supplemented the basic fish ,chicken, irish, ect. we had carried, with fresh from the garden veggies and herbs There was a large pitcher of fresh squeezed oj in the fridge all the time..The house was well equipped with spices and condiments. It did get cool at night, not cold. We used the comforter and slept great...in a double,no less. This was a bucket list item , problem is I can't cross it off,it only created the desire to go back...
http://www.almosthaven.com/ A must do.
