Not going to Quincy to shop with Sophie but I might do some Black Friday damage here in the St. Louis.
Yeah, Sophie scared the shit out of me when she called crying about the episode with Smokey. I almost got in the car right then (9:45pm) and drove the 2 ½ hours to their house. But leaving early on Friday made more sense. Then on Saturday we hit the HUGE project in the basement. We tore out one long wall and nothing was going right. Everything that could have been easy, wasnâ€t. Itâ€s really a miracle that neither of us ended up with any major boo-boos. First we had to pry the carpet tackstrip up which had been power nailed to the concrete floor. Then tear off the siding she used instead of drywall. We where getting behind paneling that had nails sticking out trying to pry it off the 2x4s. Then we moved 5 outlets which were nailed to the 2x4s without turning off the power (we wouldnâ€t be able to see or use the power tools we needed if we turned it off). We kept saying we were making an OSHA video of what not to do. At one time I was holding a piece of the siding out from the wall while Sophie used a Sawzall above my head – saw dust raining down all over me.
While Sophie was busy trying to pries loose the bottom 2x4 from the concrete, I started organizing her tools, painting supplies, nails, screws, drill bits, etc. I love to organize shit and she has a lot of shit to organize. Of course she might have to be calling me asking “do you know where my plumberâ€s tape is?†or “did you find a long handled socket wrench while you were organizing?â€
