Med, at least on Summerset you are getting SOME water. South of you there is none in the pipe at all
As far as hot water, that's not a water issue - that's a hot water heater issue. I lived for 5 years there without hot water. Here's what I did (and did again when we had no water at all last winter) - heat some up on the stove, then pour it in with some cool water to temper. Will make your bathing a lot more comfortable. We used to bring one of those solar shower thingies with us, it came with a little shower head and pump that we'd immerse in the container (of tempered warm water) and use that to bathe. In your case the dumping over the head method might work, lol!
Like anything else - you might get used to it - take your showers early evening so at least you have the benefit of the sun warming the water in the pipe. My friend has lived in Negril over 30 years and never had hot water. When she built her new house she did not install a hot water heater. Saves her a lot on the JPS bill.
My "rose colored glasses", if they were ever there gradually came off, nothing got "shattered". I don't think I've ever had an experience there that made me go "whoa! This was totally unexpected/unpredictable/f*cked up" to the point where I got that kind of "shattering" reality check. Gradual ones, sure, all the time, even now, everywhere including right here in NoCal. My tendency is to become jaded - I think its a New York thing (wait - or is that cynical) so I try very hard NOT to be that. I like to go through my experiences anywhere I am on the planet with the attitude of "it is what it is..." and move on from there in a positive light. Not always easy.
