Pre-departure Dawn & I loosely plan to link up for an adventure only the overlap between our trips was so tight it didn't happen. Digicell say she on her cell every time I borrow a phone and call. Every time. My goodness. Girl, shut that phone off you on vacation. What? You say you were calling everyone back home gloatingly asking, "How's the weather in Red Wing?" Okay, now it makes sense. But still...
There goes the One Love Drive party bus headed towards the West End. It's overflowing with tourists jammed into every conceivable space. The Jamaican couple walking ahead of me laugh and say they packed like sardines when I point out the bus to them. Traveling "Jamaica Style" I add making them laugh again.
Now one of the many differences between life in Minnesota and life in Jamaica are peanuts. They are simply being offered to me everywhere I go five times a day in Negril. Sure they're a healthy food/snack but I just don't crave them to the extent they're being offered. Eventually I buy a couple small bags to support a vendor coming to the realization I'm fortunate I don't have to try and make a living off peanuts. Should have bought more.
The number of 24-hr ATM's outside Scotia Bank has doubled from two to four lessening the likelihood of being stuck in a line.
Tried to order a large meal consisting of a platter of items at Margarittaville but they were out of conch fritters (it was late) so the waitress made a recommendation and I went with it thinking I'd just ordered "Surf 'n Turf" but I hadn't. No, there was a catch, for you see it wasn't Surf 'n Turf it was "Surf 'n Catch." That's fish, with more fish, and a side of fish.
My apologies to the chef but I was real disappointed and it wasn't because the fish wasn't prepared well. Oh well, my girl was happy, she looked nice in the new dress I'd bought her that afternoon, and the margarittas were strong.
For the record I went to a grocery store and bought a steak and a gallon of milk just before midnight within a half hour of getting home making me realize how much I cherish cows--and having my own transportation. Mmm, did I ever enjoy that meal. Sorry cows.
Okay, back to the Boat Bar. Here's Frank Aird on trumpet with Otis Gayle singing "Breaking Up Is Hard To Do." Don't miss the camera pan of the dancing patrons. You might see some familiar faces.
And that brings us to the Black Eyed Peas classic "I've Gotta Feeling" which rocks the Boat Bar
three times a week like it's New Year's Eve in the late afternoon. It's a short clip--I had to dance--the heck with being a videographer. YOLO!
I gotta feeling that tonight's gonna be a good night
That tonight's gonna be a good night
That tonight's gonna be a good, good night
A feeling that tonight's gonna be a good night
That tonight's gonna be a good night
That tonight's gonna be a good, good night
A feeling, woohoo, that tonight's gonna be a good night
That tonight's gonna be a good night
That tonight's gonna be a good, good night
A feeling, woohoo, that tonight's gonna be a good night
That tonight's gonna be a good night
That tonight's gonna be a good, good night
Tonight's the night, let's live it up
I got my money, let's spend it up
