Just my 2 cents on this whole "how Jamaican are you thing" IMHO if you are not born to Jamaican parents or at least on the island you will never "truly" be considered Jamaican regardless of the amount of time you spend there.
You may be accepted by the local Jamaicans but you will "never" be Jamaican.
It is the same in Mexico, heck it is the same in the county where I live in TN. I was not born there so I really am not considered from that county by the folks that grew up there, even though we have lived there for over 30 years (we are still newcomers).
