Tuesday , last full day ,... try to soak in enough to last . It never does . It is easy to reflect on what stood out . the simple things, a smile , a kind word , the simple gestures of friendship . The laugh till it hurts moments that seem to happen here , more often than anywhere else . As a couple , we connect , much more so than at home . We love Jamaica, but I planned this trip thinking it might be our last. we are looking to retire soon. Somewhere along this journey , Sheila turned to me and said ,"why would we want to go anywhere else ? ", I don't have a good answer. There are things I find disturbing still. The struggle to protect the environment , and GL intolerance are still big. I don't see a good outcome for either . But, I have to say, we both gained, in our love and respect, for this land, and her people.
We spent a quiet night visiting with friends ricky and pam in Lances Bay. we stayed awake a little longer than usual , chatting on the veranda outside our bedroom , still trying to soak it in .
