I'm sorry Jitters...Big Hug... Do you have a picture of sophie you can post? 14 years-she definitely lived a nice long life-but i know how much it hurts to say goodbye to such a true-unconditnally- loving companion..
Jitterbug, my heart goes out to you! Sophie is now runnin all over on the other side of that rainbow bridge- maybe even with Jenny's Corky, OT's Howlin' Wolf and my little Juliet. Losing a fur family member is no different than losing a human. It sucks and hurts immensely! Yes, eventually move on but also be gentle with yourself NOW and don't put a time limit on your grieving process. What a wonderful life you provided for Sophie! She'll always be with you.
Sorry for your loss Jitterbug, 14 is very good for a dog. I know what it feels like, after losing 1 dog in January, my other dog has cancer of the throat and was supposed to be gone two weeks ago... They are very much part of the family and we mourn for them the same way.
So sorry for your loss, jitterbug. She's a pretty dog! My mom had a faithful husky named Turbo and when he passed at around 16 years old, she put a full-fledged obituary in the local paper with his pic and everything. Turbo was a wanderer, even when he was elderly, if he could get out of the yard he would hit the road. Mom would get calls from the gas station, "Turbo's here, he wants to know if you will pick him up!" Interesting thing is that someone saw the obituary and contacted the newspaper who contacted my mother. Apparently Turbo had sired some puppies in his travels and my mom was able to go and meet one of Turbo's sons!
