Question please----- don't I remember you saying that there are manatees at Milk River? Can you give me a wild guess of driving time from Negril to Milk River? Thanks a bunch!!

They're at Alligator Hole, the next river west from Milk River (not Alligator POND). It's a good 3-4 hours from Negril, maybe closer to 4 because though not as far as Kingston you have to get off the main highway for quite awhile. It is marked here as "Long Bay", to the east of Gut River and just west of Farquars Beach: http://www.jamaicancaves.org/jamaica-road-map.jpg There are 3, and they are semi-captive guests of the government. It is possible to hire a rowboat to take you out on the river to see them. We snorkeled with them 10+ years ago but I don't think they allow that anymore.

I was hoping it was a lot closer to Black River. Pineapple is talking about driving to YS again or doing Black River if the falls are running muddy. I was hoping that the manatees were closer. Too far for us lazy people This is all IF WE EVER GET THERE!!!! Good god- time seems to be standing still at this point!LOL
