The first Dashiki I ever owned was gifted to me by my Mother, I wore it until it literally was falling apart, after her death I stopped wearing it and preserved it as the precious gift it was.
During December I went to Port Antonio to meet a young new Designer Arlene Passley owner and main designer of Aya Wear. She specialises in ethnic garments made from Authentic African fabric. Her shop is Shop #5 in Zion Hill Cross Roads,Port Antonio, Portland. If you're ever over that way give her a shout she may have somethng you would adore.
Today I received a package from her that enclosed something that I will treasure forever, I never told her of the dashiki but the item she sent was almost the exact duplicate of the one from my Mom.
I wanted to share, Thank you Arlene. Jah Bless your Inspiration and talent.
