Map feature - jabailey - 10-22-2010

How does the program determine where we are? I see that every time I'm on, it comes on as "Hopkins" which is, in fact a suburb of MPLS, but not anywhere near my suburb of Roseville
(well, maybe 25 miles?). Technology amazes me.. is this an antenna thingy, or a satellite thingy or what??

I don't see a map feature button or a "who's online" button?

But I have a question - in my preferences is there a way to turn it off so folks don't see where I am? Call me paranoid, call me a 4th Amendmant freak - but I have caller ID blocked on my phone numbers...if I want to tell I will...no offense, please...just want to know if that's the way its got to be...

It is based on IP address and is determined by your ISP location, and does not have pinpoint you. Here is where a search based on my IP would lead you:
