I was reading a thread on N.com about the new Day Spa opening up. The thing that bothers me about that place are the wages they are paying Jacans.

I do get that the day wage is ridiculously low for construction but come on... The group building this place is paying how much to renovate? and you still pay a mere 2000J a day for workers? Makes me very angry that people are being treated like this. We have a couple of very good friends who have been working there. They had worked for 2 solid weeks (5 - 6 days a week) overtime and were waiting their pay on Newyears Eve. Guess what? No pay. The accountant was in Canada. Too bad, so sad. Had to wait till Monday or Tuesday. Guess what? Accountant not back. Wholey crap! I hadnt heard from our buddy and we left on the Saturday, I was praying they all got paid on the Friday.

Ridculous. No respect.

Also someone just posted that a friend just got a job, with excellent benefits, paid vacation ,medical benefits, comparable to US/Canada. Training in Canada, the full works.

I'll bet a dollar to a donut, this is not a Jamaican. I asked the question which will get a big fight, so goes life.

I'm not so much angry with the people who practice this kind of discrimination, but at a country that allows the loop holes that sanction this type of behavior.

Winni I am sure that the managers didn't have to go withot their pay. This isssh sucks.
