It's sort of slow today so if anyone is interested...about two years ago I looked around my kitchen and decided I had to make a change.

I inherited it with my house, it was recently redone then. All white. White tile counters, white tile floors, white cabinets, white walls, white tile backsplash with the occasional bright blue tile. Brass drawer and cabinet pulls. White appliances. I had an island but it has two levels, like a cereal rail thing that made it difficult to use without stuff falling to the lower level, and too low for bar stools to go around.

It looked OK for 10+ years then the white started to get kind of old, and I just couldn't stand it.

My friend had a bowl that I liked. I borrowed it and used the colors as a guide.

First up: I painted the walls a warm gold (and did the hallways while I was at it).

you can see the walls here, also the old white ceramic covered metal sink that was rusting at the edges, and the stupid 4" white bath tile counters with wide white grout lines (who does that??!)

In that photo I've also already decided to paint the cabinets and so there is a pile of brass hardware sitting there, I've already removed it.

Honestly when I started painting I didn't know I'd do more than that but once i started I began to get ideas...
