Do you know if there are any short (3 mo.) or long-term (6 mo or more) rental houses in the housing scheme in OB where you live? Or would you ever consider renting your home for up to 3 months at a time? I'm looking for a safe, clean long term home out of Negril. Have heard good things about the housing scheme and I know you are happy there.

Sundowner, I love living where I do and feel very safe there. However, I do not know of any rentals. I know that there are as that is where LeeAnne lived and several others. I will be returning in November and can look around if that is alright. As far as renting out my home, I have never even considered this. I do have a good friend who lives there to maintain it when I am gone and to make sure nothing "walks off".

I doubt I would want to rent my home out to strangers either, but I know some people do it, so thought I'd ask. If you could keep your eyes/ears open when you go back, that would be great. We will probably be there Dec thru March or April and will be doing a lot of work on our place in the West End, so need a safe, comfortable place to stay until it's move-in ready.
I guess you're not experiencing the water shortage out there? That's another problem with the W. End. I did hear that the Government is talking about laying new pipes in several parishes, including Westmoreland, but as we know, it can be years from "talk" to actually doing anything.
Glad you have someone trustworthy living there when you're not there - that's so important. Thanks for replying, LR!

Sundowner - have you tried AirBNB? Maybe, MIGHT be something in OB Country club...
As far as water issues on the West End, its way worse south of Summerset. Not sure where your place is but just an FYI. Hopefully with the rain my neighbors are getting some relief.

Really sucks.
OK, AirBNB (https://www.airbnb.com) is a site where owners of homes, apartments, condos etc. rent either rooms in their places or their entire place for anywhere from a day to a week to several months. They have listings in Negril (just entered that with my 3 month stay dates and they list monthly rents) and everywhere in the world. My friends just used it for a 10 day stay in New York and RAVED.
Worth a try, no?
